MIDDLE AND HIGH MOUNTAIN

The itinerary is as follows: Corral de las Mulas –the Formigal Winter Station ski-lift – Ibones de Anayet – Corral de las Mulas

The route starts on a tarmacked track at Corral de las Mulas, on the road that leads to the border at El Portalet, 3 kilometres from Formigal (A-136).

Starting with a gentle climb parallel to the Culivillas Ravine (Barranco de Culivillas), you arrive at one of the Formigal Winter Station ski-lifts. Right at the door of the station the track connects with the GR11. At that point you leave the track and continue on by path.

The first section of the path is a steeper climb. The path runs parallel to the ravine and crosses it several times, as does the GR. Eventually you leave the riverbed on the left.

Following a substantial climb, you get to a flat area from where you can make out the first lakes. Leave the GR and turn right to visit the ibones.

The return to Corral de las Mulas is by the same route as the climb.
