THE FORESTS OF THE ALTO GÁLLEGO
Known since the Middle Ages, the forests of the Alto Gállego are mostly beech and are well maintained. No need to take any particular path, just venture inand you will be transported, submerged in a sensation of true discovery. The sensation is even greater if you visit in winter, walking with snow shoes after a fresh snow fall.
MANY HIMALAYAN CLIMBERS PREPARE IN THE PYRENEES
Many mountaineers do their advanced training in the area, and you can try out this sport too depending on your physical fitness and appetite for adrenaline.
Before attempting any high-risk activity, get advice from specialist companies or from the tourist office. They will give you information on the easiest routes and the trails that best suit you.
A DIP IN THE RIVER
During the summer explore our rivers, pools and even waterfalls where you can have a swim and cool down. Some of the trails end at or are close to a river, and nearly every village has a hidden corner where the local kids would go for a dip.
If you are one of those people who enjoy nature, but without having to walk too much, you will have no trouble in Alto Gállego, thanks to the transport services available for visitors: the ski-station cable cars run over the summer; there is a tourist train in Tramacastilla; and there are tourist taxi services that you can book for one-way or return journeys, with different drop-off and collection points, or for trips with stops along the way, with nearly no walking.This comprehensive serviceprovides easy access to many different sites in the area which you can photograph for your album later.

Many specialist outdoor pursuits companies operate in the area,so you can enjoy your favourite sports and they can show you some of the many routes available. There are also climbing schools and numerous via ferratas in the Region. Via ferratas are equipped for hiking, that is there are hand ropes, steps, pitons, etc. to assist in spots that are more difficult.The routes are graded and, simply put, the scenery in the Pyrenees is spectacular. Start with the easy routes and go with a guide (they provide equipment).
