Serrablo Churches Interpretive Centre in Lárrede

Centro Interpretacion Iglesias del Serrablo

The interpretive centre is in the old village forge, close to the church. The interior walls and floor of the building have been restored. The Centre was established to promote the historic and artistic importance of the churches on the Serrablo route, as well as to inform the general public about the churches in an educational and interesting way, utilising modern museum resources. With that in mind, reading codes have been installed that can be used with mobile devices. Under the theme ‘The beauty of the stones’, visitors can read a brief text describing each church on the route and see a map showing the church’s location. The information is available in Spanish, English, French and Aragonese.

This is a permanent exhibition, presented on information panels that have been designed to reference the shape of the church door in Lárrede. The main panel is a map showing the location of the churches in the region, that is the churches on the Serrablo Churches Route. The route itself is described on a series of side panels, which give a detailed explanation of each of the twelve churches. The churches were built in the 10th and 11th centuries along the left bank of the River Gállego. Each church is an architectural gem with its own unique features. The churches on the route are San Bartolomé de Gavín and San Juan de Busa, and the churches in Susín, Orós Bajo, Oliván, Lárrede, Satué, Isún, Lasieso and Ordovés. Lastly, a panel has also been placed on the original site of two churches that have been relocated: Basarán (moved to Formigal) and Gavín (moved to Sabiñánigo).

The centre does not have set opening hours. You can visit any time as it is always open for those visiting Lárrede.
