Sallent de Gállego

The capital of the Tena Valley, Sallent is situated at an altitude of 1,305 metres, at the end of the Lanuza dam and below the Peña Foratata mountain.

The town is very typical of the Aragon Pyrenees, with a beautiful Gothic church (from the early 15th Century) that houses a valuable Plateresque altarpiece. The bridge is also worth a visit, as is the Romanesque triple arch in the main square which contrasts strongly with the controversial sculpture Mallo Sallentino by the contemporary artist Ángel Orensanz.

In addition to the many services on offer (hotels, shops, restaurants, etc.), Sallent’s biggest attraction is its great location: it is a starting point for numerous excursions to the Circo de Piedrafita mountains, the Picos del Infierno and Ibón de Anayet. The surrounding landscape is crisscrossed with silent trails that lead you to mountain lakes (ibones), ravines and ridges, all with magnificent views.
